TrustedFixers ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our marketplace platform. We operate as a California-based service and comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

Information you provide:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and authentication data via Auth0.
  • Contact information: Phone number and service address (homeowners); phone number and business address (contractors).
  • Business information (contractors): CSLB license number, business name, years of experience, insurance provider, website.
  • Video recordings: Videos you upload describing home repair problems.
  • Job descriptions: Text descriptions of repair needs, urgency level, and service category.
  • Payment information: Processed by Stripe — we receive only a tokenized payment method reference and last four digits of your card. We never store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device information: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and session data.
  • Session cookies: Auth0 authentication cookies required for login persistence. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Match homeowners with qualified, licensed contractors in their area.
  • Process lead purchase payments and manage refunds.
  • Send job notifications to relevant contractors via push notification (Expo) and email (SendGrid).
  • Verify CSLB contractor licenses with the California State License Board.
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
  • Improve our platform, services, and matching algorithms.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share your information only with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the platform. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Information Shared Between Users

When a contractor purchases a lead:

  • The contractor receives the homeowner's name, phone number, and address.
  • The contractor can view the homeowner's video and job description.
  • Homeowners can see the contractor's business name once a lead is claimed.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide our services. Job records and associated video content are retained for a minimum of two years for business and compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see California Rights below). Deleted account data is purged within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Cookies

We use only session cookies necessary for authentication and login persistence, managed by Auth0. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies. You can configure your browser to reject cookies, but this may prevent you from logging in.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage for video content, and access controls to protect your information. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers in unencrypted form.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to Know: You can request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions required by law.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. There is no opt-out required.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
  • Right to Correct: You can request correction of inaccurate personal information.

10. Children's Privacy

TrustedFixers is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@trustedfixers.org.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of TrustedFixers after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
